Product Overview

The Veterinary Red Spirit Glass Thermometer is a simple mechanical temperature-measuring instrument designed for veterinary, livestock farm and general agricultural temperature monitoring. The clearly visible red liquid column provides direct temperature indication without batteries or electronic components.

With an overall length of approximately 29 cm and a measuring range of 0–100°C, the thermometer features a safety expansion chamber and automatic liquid-column response as temperature rises or falls.

  • Long transparent glass thermometer body
  • High-visibility red liquid column
  • Clearly printed temperature graduations
  • Integrated temperature-sensing bulb
  • Safety expansion chamber for additional protection
Key Features
  • 0–100°C Measuring Range: Wide temperature range supports multiple veterinary and farm monitoring applications.
  • 29 cm Length: Long glass stem provides convenient observation and handling.
  • High-Visibility Red Column: Colored thermometric liquid makes the temperature level easy to identify against the scale.
  • Automatic Temperature Response: The liquid column rises and falls naturally as temperature changes without electronic operation.
  • No Battery Required: Mechanical liquid-expansion measurement allows continuous use without a power supply.
  • Safety Expansion Chamber: Additional expansion space helps protect the thermometer if the temperature approaches the upper measuring range.
  • Simple and Economical: Suitable for livestock farms, veterinary facilities and routine agricultural temperature monitoring.
Working Principle

The thermometer works according to thermal expansion of the thermometric liquid. As the sensing bulb becomes warmer, the liquid expands and rises through the narrow capillary tube. When the temperature decreases, the liquid contracts and the column falls. The temperature is read directly from the graduated scale beside the liquid column.

Installation & Maintenance
  • Inspect the glass body for cracks, chips or damage before each use.
  • Position the sensing bulb in the area or medium to be measured according to the intended application.
  • Allow sufficient time for the liquid column to stabilize before reading the temperature.
  • Read the scale at eye level to reduce viewing error.
  • Do not expose the thermometer to temperatures beyond its specified 0–100°C measuring range.
  • Handle carefully to avoid impact or bending of the glass stem.
  • Clean the external surface using a method compatible with the intended veterinary or farm application.
  • Store the thermometer in a protective case or secure location when not in use.
Product FAQ

Q: What is the temperature range?
A: The listed measuring range is 0–100°C.

Q: How long is the thermometer?
A: The thermometer is approximately 29 cm long.

Q: Does the thermometer require batteries?
A: No. It uses liquid thermal expansion and requires no electrical power.

Q: Does the liquid column need to be shaken down?
A: No. The liquid column naturally rises and falls as the measured temperature changes.

Q: Why is the liquid column red?
A: The colored liquid provides high contrast against the scale, making temperature readings easier to observe.

Q: What is the purpose of the safety expansion chamber?
A: It provides additional space for liquid expansion and helps reduce the risk of damage if the temperature approaches the upper measurement limit.

Q: Is this a mercury thermometer?
A: The product image shows a red liquid-column thermometer. Red spirit is commonly used in this type of thermometer instead of metallic mercury. Confirm the exact filling liquid according to the supplied product specification if required.
