| Working Principle / Structural Principle | Feed is placed into the trough from the service side. Goats approach the feeder through the openings in the feeding grill and take feed from the trough without having unrestricted access to the complete feeding area. The grill helps establish a more organized feeding position and can reduce animals entering or lying directly inside the trough. It also helps limit the ability of animals to push feed toward the ends of the feeder. The exact grill spacing and feeding height should be selected according to animal size, breed, feeding behavior and local farm management requirements. | Installation & Maintenance | Position the feeder at a suitable feeding height and ensure that the supporting livestock panel, rail, wall or steel structure can safely carry the feeder and normal feeding load. For panel or rail installation, secure all mounting brackets firmly to the supporting structure. Where goats are likely to lift, move or overturn a freestanding or hanging unit, additional fixing should be considered. The reference GoatTuff installation system uses mounting brackets for welded wire panels, pipe or timber supports. Remove leftover feed regularly and clean the trough according to the farm sanitation program. Inspect the feeding grill, mounting brackets, fasteners and support points periodically. Replace damaged components before continued use. For outdoor installations, the feeder should be positioned to minimize direct exposure to standing water and severe weather conditions. Material and surface treatment can be selected according to local climate and farm conditions. |
